THE CHALLENGE

I was watching a Baptism at church a few weeks ago and was reminded of the pledge that we took as a association a couple years ago at our state finals. I wrote the pledge by changing some words  of a Baptismal pledge that our members take when a one of our children at church are Baptized.

I would like to challenge the new members of our Rodeo family to take the pledge and our returning members to renew their pledge.

Members of the Kentucky High School Rodeo Association

Do you as an Association member accept the responsibility of assisting each other in the fulfillment of the sport of rodeo, and do you  undertake to provide facilities and opportunities for our contestants to grow in rodeo and fellowship?  If so, say,   We Will.

I commend to your Love and Care, these contestants whom we recognize as members of the rodeo family.

Will you endeavor to live that these contestants may grow in the knowledge and understanding of the western way of life? If so,  say,  We Will.

Lanesville Ind. was a great Rodeo this weekend.  Our teams Junior High and High School made a great showing. I didn't get to meet all the new members. But, we will have more time for our meeting at Hazel Rodeo.  We will have time to enjoy Cowboy Church on Sunday and a lot more time for fellowship all weekend.

I was most imprested when I got to talk to one of the Indiana parents.  We watched the kids that were always ready to compete when called. They were always there to help out if another contestant was needing assistance, getting in to the arena during barrels and poles, or loaning someone spurs or a neck rope. I saw kids swapping horses and head ropes. High School kids cheering on the Junior High girls running for the time line in Ribbon roping.

We as adult members can learn from these young adults. They can help us to remember that we should not fret over the little stuff so much and keep our focus on the big picture of raising great kids. NHSRA has great kids!

So, join me and take the challenge.
